What's New

* Dual installer -- install Netscape Navigator Personal Edition on
Windows 3.x or Windows 95 using the same set of installation disks.

* Getting Started -- on-line help that documents how to connect to
the Internet with Netscape Personal Edition, and how to use
  Netscape Navigator.

Windows 95:

* Upgrade from older versions of Personal Edition. If you have an
older version of Netscape Personal Edition installed on your
computer, your Dialer files will be converted to Windows 95 Dial-
Up Networking connections. If you had used Personal Edition to
configure your Eudora or Microsoft Exchange mail preferences,
Netscape Personal Edition 2.0 will configure the Navigator to use
  your old mail preferences.

Windows 3.x:

* Enhanced support for RPI, WinRPI, DSP, and Windows Accelerated
  modems.

* New Login Script Support.
In the Dialer Properties dialog's General tab, note the new
  support for scripted logins.

  * Record a login script. If you click this button, the dialer
will connect to your service provider, and record your keystrokes
while you log in. The next time you connect to your ISP, the
dialer will automatically log in to the host for you.

  * Write a login script. The login script syntax is a subset of
the Microsoft Windows 95 Dial-Up Scripting Command Language.
After recording your login script, click the Edit Script button
to view and edit your script.

* Upgrade from NNPE 1.1 or 1.2
The Setup program will automatically configure Netscape for sending
and receiving email, based on your Eudora preferences. If you use a
script to log into your ISP, setup will convert your login scripts
  to use the new format.

Troubleshooting

Windows 95:

* You must restart your computer after installing your modem under
Windows 95. After installing your modem under Windows 95, either
through the Modems icon in the Windows 95 Control Panel, or through
the Account Setup Wizard, you must restart your computer before
Windows 95 will be able to dial your modem.

* If you have configured Microsoft TCP/IP to use DNS (Domain Name
Service), you may not be able to connect to hosts through your
Dial-Up Networking connection. Your Dial-Up Networking connection
contains its own fields for your ISP's name servers, which will be
not be used if you have specified name servers in your Microsoft
  TCP/IP configuration.

The Account Setup Wizard will warn you if you have configured
Microsoft TCP/IP to use DNS. If you see this warning, double-click
the Getting Started icon in your Navigator program group, and read
the topics on "DNS configuration" to either modify or disable DNS.

* To Uninstall Netscape Personal Edition, select Settings | Control
Panel from the Windows 95 Start Menu. Then select Add / Remove
Programs from the Control Panel. To uninstall, select Netscape
Personal Edition from the list of installed programs, and click
  the Add / Remove button.

Windows 3.x:

* To receive mail through Netscape Navigator, click on the Get Mail
icon. To configure the Navigator to retrieve mail automatically,
select the Mail and News Preferences under the Options menu. On
the Servers tab, set "Check for Mail" to the number of minutes
the Navigator should wait between mail checks.

If you using the Navigator while off-line, you may wish to set
"Check for Mail" to 0 to prevent the Navigator from dialing to your
  ISP.

* To uninstall Netscape Personal Edition, run the program NUNINST.EXE.
The uninstall program is located in the C:\Netscape\Uninstal directory
  if you installed in C:\Netscape.

Do not run NUNINST.EXE unless you want to uninstall Netscape Personal
Edition. After running nuninst.exe, some Netscape configuration
information will be deleted, even if you click No on the uninstaller's
confirmation dialog. You must re-install Netscape Personal Edition.

* When upgrading from Netscape Personal Edition version 1.1, the Install
Wizard defaults to restarting Windows, but you must restart your
computer before you will be able to connect to your ISP.

* Some RPI modems may not be correctly auto-detected. If you get a
General Protection Fault during auto-detection, restart Windows,
restart the Account Setup Wizard, and choose your modem manually.

* You may encounter problems under low memory conditions with RPI
modems while viewing large text documents.

* If your modem is not listed in Modem Wizard's list of modems, first
try the Hayes compatible setting. If the "Hayes compatible" setting
does not work, try the "Other Windows modem" setting.

* If you have Visioneer PaperPort drivers installed, you must re-detect
your modem after you re-start Windows.
