Important Notes
---------------
CrashGuard Deluxe installs DCOM for Windows 95. Uninstalling DCOM will
prevent CrashGuard Deluxe from functioning properly. If your DCOM
installation is removed or corrupt you can reinstall it from the
CrashGuard Deluxe CD. Use Windows Explorer to open the Disk1 folder
on the CD. Then double-click on DCOM95.EXE to install DCOM.

DCOM for Windows 95 must be installed on your computer to uninstall
CrashGuard Deluxe. If you remove DCOM95 or if it becomes corrupt,
you must reinstall DCOM before you can uninstall CrashGuard Deluxe.

A "Norton CrashGuard Deluxe Auto Check" shortcut is placed in your
Windows 95 Start Up folder during the CrashGuard Deluxe installation.
This shortcut launches Auto Check automatically every time you start
Windows.

In the Auto Check tab in the Settings dialog, the system resources
usage is set to 50% by default. If you want to continue working
while Auto Check runs, adjust the slider to Low. Use High to
maximize Auto Check's speed.

The Rescue Disk utility requires a 3.5" floppy disk drive configured
as the boot floppy drive. Rescue Disk also requires three 3.5" floppy
disks.

Running the "Virus Defs & Product Update Scan" launches LiveUpdate
to update your virus definitions and CrashGuard Deluxe program files.
If you do not have an Internet connection, LiveUpdate dials a
long-distance phone number to download the latest updates. To control
how LiveUpdate connects for these updates, change LiveUpdate settings
by double-clicking the LiveUpdate icon in the Windows Control Panel.

You might encounter a blue screen fatal error when installing
CrashGuard Deluxe on a drive with Stacker. Update to the latest
version of Stacker to fix this problem. Visit http://www.stac.com
to download the latest update.

Microsoft has determined that SoftRAM95 is not compatible with
Windows 95 and should not be used with CrashGuard Deluxe.

If Norton Navigator 95.0.b is installed on your system, you might
receive a "Mem_Bad_Pointer" error while using the Edit Solution on
invalid .PIF, .URL, or .LNK files. Update to version 95.0.c
of Norton Navigator to fix this problem. Visit
http://www.symantec.com to download the update.

Over time, entries in CrashGuard Deluxe's undo folder can occupy
a significant amount of disk space. If you use the Undo feature to
reverse events CrashGuard Deluxe has performed, you should regularly
delete all log entries and the contents of your C:\Program Files\
Common Files\Symantec Shared\UndoData folder.

The online version of the CrashGuard Deluxe User Guide contains the
most up-to-date information about the product. The Adobe Acrobat
file, CGDELUXE.PDF and a copy of the Acrobat Reader, AR32E301.EXE,
are located in the Manual folder on the CrashGuard Deluxe CD.

The installation process may encounter fatal errors if you attempt
to install CrashGuard Deluxe with less than 25 MB of free disk space.

Norton Web Services
-------------------

Norton Web Services is a single location on the web, dedicated to the
health and enhancement of your PC. The annual subscription fee for
Norton Web Services is $29.95. As an owner of CrashGuard Deluxe you
are entitled to a free 6-month subscription. Included in the CrashGuard
Deluxe box is a subscription coupon with instructions for initializing
your free Norton Web Services subscription.

LiveUpdate Pro requires an active subscription to Norton Web Services.

If you are running Windows 95 version 4.00.950 you must have
Microsoft's Internet Explorer v3.0 or later installed to access Norton
Web Services.

America Online (AOL)
--------------------

CrashGuard Deluxe requires a Windows 95 32-bit Winsock to be installed
on your computer.

You would need to install 32-bit AOL v3.0 or later for Windows 95
in order to get CrashGuard Deluxe to work with America Online. The
standard 16-bit AOL software does not include a 32-bit Winsock, and
is consequently not compatible with CrashGuard Deluxe. You can order
the new version for Windows 95 from AOL on CD, or download it by using the
AOL keyword: GET95. The date on the file WAOL.EXE in your AOL directory
MUST be at least 10/8/96 in order for CrashGuard Deluxe to work.

Please note that there have been a number of different releases of the
AOL software for Windows 95. The only way to identify your exact release
is by checking the date on the WAOL.EXE file.

If you have difficulty after installing the Windows 95 version of the
AOL software, go to the Start button and select Settings, and then
Control Panel. Double-click the Network icon in the Windows Control
Panel. In the list of installed network components, remove all TCP/IP
components that are listed, as well as any Dial-Up Adapters and AOL
Adapters.

Then restart your computer, and launch AOL. This will then reinstall the
AOL network components on your computer, and will require you to restart
a second time. After doing that, CrashGuard Deluxe should then work. If
not, please feel free to contact our technical support staff.

CompuServe
----------

CrashGuard Deluxe is not compatible with CompuServe's Winsock. When
installing CompuServe Information Manager for Windows 95, do not install
the CompuServe Winsock.
