Installing the VMware SVGA Driver and Toolbox
Windows Guest OS only
VMware Inc. provides an SVGA driver for the guest operating systems Windows NT, Windows 95 and Windows 98.
The directions for downloading and installing the driver are very similar across operating systems, and follow. When you install the VMware SVGA driver, you also get the VMware Toolbox. The toolbox is described in the next section.
To install the VMware SVGA driver:

Start the VM.

Download the driver to the VM's disk.
The driver is available from the VMware Web site or the VMware CD.

Unzip the file.
Execute the file, which automatically unzips it.

Modify settings in the guest OS.
Follow the instructions that pertain to your guest OS.
Windows 95 Guest

In the guest Windows 95 Control Panel, click on the Display icon.

Click on the Settings tab and on Advanced Properties.

Click on the Adapter tab and on Change and then on Have Disk.

Browse to the directory where you unzipped the Windows 95 SVGA driver, and select the driver file.
Windows 98 Guest
In the guest Windows 98 Control Panel, click on the Display icon.

Click on the Settings tab and on DIsplay Type.

Click on Change and then on Have Disk.

Browse to the directory where you unzipped the driver, and select the driver file.
Windows NT Guest

In the guest Windows NT Control Panel, click on the Display icon.

Click on the Settings tab and on Display Type.

Click on Change and then on Have Disk.

Browse to the directory where you unzipped the driver, and select the driver file.

Click on OK and reboot the VM.

Open the Control Panel and choose the higher resolution that you want to use.
