Defining Ethernet Adapters

You can specify networking options for the VM, or you can disable networking entirely for the VM.

To disable networking entirely for a VM, simply do not add an ethernet adapter in the VM configuration editor. To review the implications of a standalone VM, refer to "Standalone VM (No Networking)" .

To enable networking, you simply choose a network connection type for the VM:

For more information on each option, refer to "Networking a Virtual Machine" .

To enable networking for a VM:
  1. Open the VM configuration editor.
  2. Click the expansion button next to Ethernet Adapters.
  3. Click Not Installed. Choose the desired connection type.
  4. The default connection type is Bridged.

  5. Click Install.
  6. The entry below Ethernet Adapters changes to the connection type that you selected.

(If you should happen to choose the wrong connection type, or you want to change a VM to be standalone, simply click Remove.)

For more details about using these options to implement various networking scenarios, refer to "Networking a Virtual Machine" .

  7. Exit the VM configuration editor by clicking OK, or continue to add or modify another feature.
