SYMPTOM

SYMPTOM:

HMA NOT AVAILABLE OR ALREADY IN USE

CAUSE

ISSUE/PROBLEM:

DR DOS system files should not be loaded into the HMA when there are
applications that require use of the HMA. These applications include
DESQVIEW, XMSNETx, (Novell NetWare) and Windows 3.1 in enhanced mode on a
2 MB computer.

SOLUTION

SOLUTION:

To keep DR DOS 6.0 out of the HMA:

1) Do not use the /MH option on any commands that support its use. These
commands include SHELL, SHARE and DELWATCH. The /MU switch can be used on
these commands.

2) Do not use the HIBUFFERS command because this command will use the HMA
even if the Kernel is not loaded there.

3) Set /BDOS=AUTO.
