SYMPTOM

Error message: Check to see if you have the right CD in your drive.

ISSUE/PROBLEM

Magnavox licenses a program called PCGlobe to run on their 461 CD ROM
external drive. The commercial version of PCGLOBE has no incompatibilities
with DRDOS 6.0. However, the Magnavox version generates an error "CHECK
TO SEE IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT CD IN YOUR DRIVE". This occurs with any
configuration.

SOLUTION

There are two solutions:

1) Update COMMAND.COM to 11/92. This is available on CompuServe or on the
Novell DSG BBS. The numbers for the BBS are 801-429-7785 for 300-2400
baud modems and 801-429-7787 for 9600 baud modems. The name of the update
is UTL1192 and the checksum of the updated COMMAND.COM is 29D0. XDIR with
the option /C will display checksums.

2) If you cannot upgrade to the 11/92 COMMMAND.COM remove the second line
from the batch file that invokes PCGLOBE. The second line checks to see if
a file exists on the PCGLOBE CDROM. This check fails because the file has

the hidden attribute set. DR DOS does not acknowledge the existance of
hidden files except in the 11/92 update.
